Leo has been performing professionally across all genres of music for more than two decades. He has since performed or recorded with multiple bands including the Jazz Association of Singapore Orchestra, New Stream Brass Band, Amanda Lee Swingtet, Singapore Jazz All-stars band, Singapore Pop Orchestra, The Philharmonic Orchestra, the Manhattan School of Music Orchestra, and several musicals such as Singing in the Rain, A Chorus Line, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Beauty World, and Fried Rice Paradise. As an educator, he tutors classical and jazz trombone privately and for educational institutions.

Born in Singapore, raised in Taipei, and having studied in the US, Leo started his musical training at the age of nine with classical trombone under esteemed trombonists such as Ray Heberer and Terry Shiu (邵恆發). He was a recipient of The Louis Armstrong Jazz Award under Taipei American School and went on to the US to continue growing his love for jazz learning from the likes of trombonists such as Glenn Franke in New York City.

Outside of music, Leo is a trained helicopter flight test engineer, aircraft designer, and aeronautical consultant. Leo is the founder of STATE Aviation, a consultancy building capabilities in aviation safety, technologies, and test engineering. He holds a B.Eng in Engineering Physics, an M.Sc. in Material Science and Engineering, and a PhD in Engineering Product Design. His aim is to bring pleasurable and enjoyable moments through music with a trombone while realizing aviation innovations to help us all to have a better and sustainable modern life.
